— The Brief

The Other Songs is an independent British record label and events, management and publishing company. With a small yet diverse stable of talent, The Other Songs represents emerging artists including Mabes, Quarry and Navy.

The Other Songs started as a series of live industry events showcasing up-and-coming singer-songwriters. In 2018, The Other Songs wanted a visual identity created to promote the live event. It needed to also reflect the ethos at the core of the company - quality songwriting.

— Creating An Iconic Brand Identity

I worked closely with the label heads to fully understand the brand’s ethos and identity. During these conversations, they often referred to The Other Songs as the “home of songwriting”.

For me, this phrase invoked the legendary Tin Pan Alley in London, a creative hub for the UK music scene during the 20th century. With this in mind, I created an emblem based on a building on the corner of Tin Pan Alley and an iconic red phone booth.

Using simple and authentic imagery, the concept was versatile enough to adapt to any use or medium. This proved invaluable as The Other Songs has grown from strength to strength over the last three years. Today, the brand asset has become a recurring motif for the various arms of the business and its live events, appearing in over 20 different iterations.

“We’re passionate, if not slightly obsessed, with great songs, wherever they may come from.”

— Alastair Webber
